The members had a general discussion on the level of funding being received by Clare County Council pointing out that the county’s funding was the third least in the country.  It was agreed that West Clare MD along with the other MDs need to call for extra funds for Clare.

Cyril Feeney advised that while the Department ideally want a minimum 10% of roads being remediated each year, the funding only allowed for approximately 5.5% to be done.

Item 2: Any Other Business

·        Cllr. Lynch raised the serious defects that have been present on the N68 for a long time, how much longer will we waiting for them to be fixed.

Cyril Feeney, SE advised that the staff have the ability to log these defects with the Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII).

·        Cllr. Slattery raised the funding being allocated by the TII to Blake’s Corner since 2015.

Cyril Feeney, SE advised that funding is being spent on the bypass project.

·        Cllr. Killeen made the point that Active Travel funding seems to be only going to Ennis.

Cyril Feeney, SE, referred to the Greenways. The National Transport Authority fund the Active Travel Programme and currently the focus is on larger urban areas.
